A Colorful Cure for the Winter Blues

In the middle of winter, on the coldest, shortest days, many of us have the tendency to go for the simplest, darkest items in our closets. We get it, but it’s actually dressing in color that will lift your mood and energize you for brighter days ahead. You dress your mood, so why not influence your mood with how you dress? Read on for some dressing inspiration — including KULE’s January drop — to put a rare February smile on your face 🌈🙂.

Styling to Boost Your Mood

Combat your February slump by dressing happy with something like a rainbow sweater or multicolor tee. Think of the colorful item as an automatic caffeine boost, which we think is best paired with something neutral. Try wearing your fresh, vibrant sweater with a pair of neutral trousers, or your joyful tee with dark denim. Your multicolor piece is suddenly as versatile as a neutral one. We tend to think that the most classic look is jeans and a tee, so do that, but with some color.

One of my personal favorite colorful winter styling hacks is wearing your multicolored tee or sweater with neutral pants/jacket, and then coordinating color with accessories (think: orange frames if your tee has orange in it, or a green hat if it has green in it, etc.). Having fun with the colors really unifies an outfit. It’s a winter styling formula that’s easy to switch up with simple accessory swaps.

Of course, if rainbow isn’t your thing, picking a color you love, to work into your wardrobe, is still a winter mood-boost (such as this luxurious berry-striped cashmere sweater 😍).

How to Shop for Some Winter Cheer

Choosing colorful pieces that still feel elevated, means choosing pieces that are statement but still chic, vibrant but not noisy, and most importantly, bring you joy, even on the coldest, most dreary winter days. Work some feel-good items into your wardrobe; from statement pieces (our cozy Holly sweater and best-selling rainbow tee, shown above), to accessories with which to finish off an outfit (scarves, jewelry, hats, a belt), from both KULE and other cheerful brands.

Get Ready for Valentine’s Day: A Shopping List, With Love

Valentine’s Day: the holiday for romantics, a chance to utilize the gift-giving love language, a time to treat yourself to something special because you deserve it and love yourself. There should be no stress around this specific holiday; it should be all about pleasure and joy. I like to think of this holiday as a chance to be on the side of love and, even more so now, embrace the moment with joy. Nikki designed the KULE January collection to be all about love and joy with hearts, rainbows, and plenty of color. And so, as someone who indeed scored extremely high in Gift Giving on the 5 Love Languages Test, I’m here to bring you some guidance with love-gifting — for yourself or someone you love — on this holiday of hearts ❤️.

Be Literal About Love ❤️

I personally like wearing heart-shape pieces or items with hearts on them because 1) they make me think of the person who gave it to me, or the reason I got it and 2) it’s a symbol that tells people around me I care about that warm happy feeling. Love! KULE’s January collection is full of hearts: a cozy oversized sweatshirt that feels like a hug, a striped tee (duh) in a Boyfriend style (a bit oversized) with an embroidered heart, a tote to carry your <3 around with you, or socks which are a little warm reminder for the one you love (or yourself!).

I am personally a big fan of heart-shaped jewelry. From fine to fashion, I think that heart-shaped jewelry is a playful and romantic addition to an outfit, and a gift your partner will, well, love. There is, of course, always Cartier for that 😉.

Gifts that Make You Feel the Love

While I want all the hearts in the world, I also love receiving (and giving) a gift that comes with so much thought and makes your partner really feel understood. Be that with a special cashmere sweater (with a note inside the pocket), a book of photographs celebrating the city you met in (aww), a new wallet with a photo of you two lovingly inside (a great men’s one here), a keychain for everyday reminders, a vase with flowers already nestled inside. A favorite idea if you’re ok with being aware of each other’s gifts: matching sneakers as a subtle sign of your companionship 😍.

The Thought that Really Counts

The best and most loving gift, to me, is a card with a thoughtful and honest message. And I am someone that reallllllly loves clothing and jewelry. So don’t skimp on the thought! Whether that’s with a bouquet of flowers, a card alongside your gift, a handmade photo album of moments together, a playlist meant for your partner, your partner’s favorite baked treat, or a romantic dinner where there are no phones in sight, just a shared bowl of Cacio e Pepe. Speaking of which, if you want to share a bowl of pasta with the one you love, consumed Lady and the Tramp style, Nikki recommends I Sodi, Sant Ambroeus, and Mezzaluna (specifically Mezzaluna’s linguine alle vongole, which she says is the best) for you pasta-loving romantics of New York City.

O BOY it’s Sale Time! Here’s a Helpful Guide to Shopping the Sale of the Year

It’s the excitement of the holidays all over again! The KULE Sale – which only happens once a year – is on now, and there are bountiful amounts of tees, sweaters, outerwear, socks, bags…all of the pieces you know and love KULE for. But sales can be difficult to shop, even with a breakdown of category, size, and discount. As a former market editor, and very passionate shopper, I am here to help you get started with some of my picks from the sale–and tips on the many ways to style them! – Elizabeth Tamkin, KULE Content + Partnerships Manager

Don’t Sleep on the Classics

This is a generally good tip when shopping any sale: note classic pieces! For KULE, that means stripes and solid styles that will never expire and can be styled a plethora of ways. The KULE sale has a ton of classic pieces in styles that are core to the brand. Because KULE is known for stripes, I would definitely go for a striped style, and the 100% cashmere Addie sweater is one of my favorites of the loot. It’s a versatile cream/navy stripe with a slightly oversized, relaxed, and comfy fit. More classics: timeless jackets (like this quilted one that has subtle signature KULE stripe detailing), striped tees, solid cotton and cashmere knits, everyday shirting, and of course smiles.

Pieces to Keep you Happy at Home

I am very determined to be purposeful when I’m getting dressed to stay in. Whether or not you’re working from home, January and February are the months to stay in cozy on the couch as much as possible. KULE’s sale has pieces that are great for that, while still feeling good and thoughtful in your outfit, in velour, cashmere, and some fun prints too (the camo sets are my favorite). There are also ways to take these loungewear pieces out, in case you wind up getting a spurt of energy. Why not pair a pair of luxurious sweatpants or joggers with a blazer? Or a sweatshirt with a tulle skirt? My personal favorite pieces for doing just that are the Velour because it is so fun to dress up or down. Some tips in the video below 😉.

For Your Future Self ☀️

As a sale shopper, I have two mindsets: immediate vs. future gratification. The official first day of Spring is 2 months away (I cannot even write out in words the joy that sentence brings me), and one way to really hype yourself up for the warmer weather is get shopping! Sale is a great time to do that. When shopping sale for the next season, you want to buy things you feel like you will really love in a couple months (or just dance around in them at home now). There are really classic warm weather pieces in the sale: dip-dyes, cabana shirts, striped shorts, tees, and dresses. You want items you can mix and match on into summer because by then, you’ll be coordinating with your beachwear.

Vogue Essentials: 40 Wardrobe Staples Our Editors Are Wearing in 2022 by The Get Editors

The start of a new year is often synonymous with change, whether it’s to improve personal routines, setting and manifesting goals, or even a sartorial shift—a fresh idea about how you’d like to dress for the year ahead. Maybe you’re rethinking how to approach your style, cleaning out your closet of unworn items of your past, or looking to update and elevate your collection of wardrobe essentials altogether.

To help, The Get has gathered a robust list of our favorite, most versatile pieces we consider to be foundational for any closet. Pared-back but never boring, these are the wardrobe essentials our editors find themselves turning to season after season, those mainstay items we look forward to wearing with everything in 2022. And while we’ll still welcome irresistible seasonal and trend-forward pieces–—it’s fashion we’re obsessed with after all!—we know those need to live alongside a capsule of staple items because every wardrobe needs a yin-yang balance. That shiny new statement item will dazzle even more when paired with, say, the perfect go-to denim.

Ahead is a well-curated edit that has helped craft the foundation of our wardrobes. It’s safe to say we’re wearing at least one, if not more, of the highlighted pieces below daily. We’ve covered the classics: white t-shirts, crewneck sweaters, trench coats. And also those items that have more recently earned their spot as a wardrobe essential: puffer coats, matching sweats, and mini dresses. These pieces have transcended their stance as a fleeting trend, becoming notable additions to the list.

So here’s to raising the bar on stylish essentials in 2022 and investing in the timeless, long-lasting pieces you’ll love for years to come. Below, shop a collection of closet must-haves from your friends at The Get.

The Classic Striped Tee

An 1858 regulation introduced the striped tee (or marinière) to the official wardrobe of quartermasters and sailors in the French Navy. In the 160-some years since it’s become a symbol of timeless French fashion and a very important element in many Vogue editor’s closets—seafaring experience not required.

54 Stylish and Useful Gifts for Newborns by Laura Lajiness Kaupke

So-sweet picks to celebrate that bundle of joy.

Gifts for newborns aren’t like other presents you’d give a friend or family member. While equally thoughtful, they’re infinitely more precious, but with practicality to soothe and nurture infants in their beginning stages of life.

The most fun place to start for baby essentials is undoubtedly newborn clothes. Nothing’s cuter than teensy rompers, footies, and itty-bitty knits. Equally darling and cozy? Receiving blankets, hooded bath towels, and extras like hats and socks to keep babes toasty warm. Sleep essentials are doubly prime for newborns (and their parents)—think swaddles, sleep sacks, and calming sound machines to whoosh away noise during naps and late-night feedings. Developmental extras and accessories to combat fuss also make great gifts, from bouncers and loungers to carriers and cushy mats for tummy time. (Pro tip: check the baby registry to ensure parents haven’t already checked them off their list.)

Toys, books, and playsets are all top of the list for newborns deserving of sweet yet functional gifts for playtime and beyond. And don’t forget newborn-friendly beauty products—babies require ultra-gentle formulas to soothe their fragile skin, from bathing essentials to lotions, oils, and balms. Keep scrolling for an edit of stylish and practical gift ideas for newborns, from clothes to toys to oh-so darling gift sets.
