The Spring Trend Report

While we are a classic brand that doesn’t let trends dictate how we style, we can’t help but be excited that our newest collection and the Spring 2025 trends many style writers are writing about align. If you’re only going to buy four things this season, these are the way to go. Now that we are finally rounding the corner into the new season, let’s look at just how on-trend we really are, shall we?

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!

KULE Spring 2025 Trends butter yellow

If you haven’t been on Instagram in the last few months, butter yellow is spreading almost everywhere. Years ago, Harling Ross Anton coined the hashtag #stickofbutter to put a name to those head-to-toe butter ensembles that today seem to be craved by everyone. And as Jess Graves puts it in her Substack The Love List, “butter as an aesthetic.” We like to think that the range of buttery pieces in our Spring 2025 collection style themselves, but if you need some additional inspiration, Mally K. Goldman breaks down some buttery outfits in her Substack, Catching Up.

From the Barn to the Trenches

KULE Spring 2025 Trends trench coats and barn jackets

Spring allows for some of the best layering, and our classic car coat and trench have been some of the best-selling styles this season, especially after this NYT shoutout. Becky Malinsky showed the versatility of a trench in her Substack Five Things You Should Buy while at fashion week in London, Milan, and Paris. The trench is one of the most classic jackets you can get. It is perfect for spring but also good through into late fall. Beyond the classic trench, the Barn Jacket style still stands strong after gaining momentum last year. The Barn Jacket is often worn by friends and Substack writers Leandra Medine Cohen and Jalil Johnson, who each wear and reference the style frequently, in their own unique ways. ICYMI, our Ripley Jacket this season, fits the trend. It’s a nice light cotton/linen blend that is perfect for spring layering and comes in two colors.

O Buoy!

KULE Spring 2025 Trends nautical

Nautical style is making waves this season. The “fisherman aesthetic” has emerged as a significant trend for Spring 2025. Emily Sundberg touches upon it in her Substack, Feed Me, where she reports, “Pinterest also predicted that the maritime look would be big this summer.” As Jalil Johnson writes in his Substack, “My vacation spot of choice is Cape Cod, and the aesthetic naturally aligns with the look of New England’s coastal towns. But what made it feel particularly real—rather than just another internet-fueled aesthetic—was its undeniable connection to preppy style.” If you’re into this style (and we imagine you are because you’re here), our Spring collection has many pieces that fit the bill, from cotton tees to cozy sweaters and sweatshirts.

Collars Up

KULE Spring 2025 Trends polos

As a brand with various button-down shirts, you know we love a collar. And this season, we dove into polo shirts! A polo is the perfect top for layering under crewneck sweaters, cardigans, or even other polos. It’s also great with a little spring neck scarf, per how Laurel Pantin styled our avocado-colored one here. Our Farley polos are made of a super-fine silk/cotton blend and are intended to have a shrunken fit, so if you want them to fit a bit looser, size up! With two new colors coming next month, which hue are you?

And to get more excited about spring trends, I suggest taking a stroll or scrolling through KULE.com.

A Spring Try-On with Nikki Kule

Last week, Nikki stopped by our Rockefeller Center store to check on her creations and ended up having an impromptu try-on. She styled the new spring pieces the way she would wear them and even took some with her 🙂. Let’s do a try-on, shall we?

Finally! It’s Light Jacket Season

The new Ripley jacket—which comes in Khaki and Olive—is the perfect cool, casual, mid-weight jacket to take you through spring. As a jacket person herself (you should see her collection), the shape and cut of this one are juuuust right, styled with a pair of wide-leg trousers and her longtime favorite detached hood, the “Hoodie Dickey.”

The Fletcher vest instantly adds a kule factor to your look, a final layer that makes whatever you wear that much cooler. Nikki styled hers with our new silk/cotton Farley polo because you can never have too many collars. She decided to size up in the vest for a more oversized and relaxed fit. This is why it’s good to shop IRL.

It’s a (Boat) Party

Ahoy, mateys ⚓! Sailor style is making waves this season. Nikki was inspired by the classic sailor uniform of the 1920s when designing the 100% organic cotton Fisher tee. Its slightly boxier cut makes it the perfect top for high or mid-waisted trousers. The traditional back flap collar is a special touch.

The nautical bow knot embroidery on this 100% organic cotton Sailor Sweatshirt makes being cozy more intentionally styled. Nikki elevated the casualness of her sweatshirt with our new thinly striped Grable trousers, her personal favorite pants for everyday wear. They’re a drapey, pleat-front style with a looser fit. And loafers—a shoe synonymous with Nikki Kule—or boat shoes are the perfect final touch. O buoy 🛥️!

Styling an easy-but-polished outfit is like dressing a salad: it’s all about the fixings and making it yours. Nikki is a Pants Girl and loves a good pant. There are a lot of new pant styles on the horizon for KULE, so stay tuned. She styled her new spring shirtpants combo with fisherman-style leather sandals and added accessories to really make the look personal, like a fun basket bag (or hat, depending on how you wear it), classic sunglasses, and… a pigeon (it’s art!).

A Blazer? A Shirt? A Blirt?

It’s a hybrid of both! The Drake combines the casual vibe of a classic cotton shirt with the polish of a blazer to give you the pièce de résistance of spring layers. Nikki styled it with easy base layers: her favorite KULE tee style (the Wynn Baby Tee, now in navy), easy pants, and classic accessories. Let your stripes stand out!

48 Items to Refresh Your Spring Wardrobe by Misty White Sidell

Easy pants, wafer-thin sweaters, go-everywhere coats and more.
Spring is a time of renewal. As temperatures rise, daylight extends and pollen froths in the air, wardrobes also undergo a turnover. Thick, woolly sweaters and heavy coats are pushed to the back of closets, making way for lighter layers, breathable fabrics and punches of color.

Those looking to refresh their spring wardrobe have no shortage of options to choose from, a fact that can quickly make shopping a daunting endeavor. To help, I spent more than 12 hours browsing websites to find worthy items in eight key categories of springtime attire.

These 48 products come from brands across the world. Some are big, but many are small, independent labels. They range in price from about $60 to $800, and were picked with a variety of body types and personal preferences in mind. Most importantly, they address a desire for simple clothing that is better than basic.

As the weather warms, having a polished overcoat that can be worn comfortably over a variety of items — a T-shirt, sweats, a lighter jacket or a blazer — can take some of the guesswork out of getting dressed.

A number of small labels — Kule in New York, Mijeong Park in Los Angeles and Studio Nicholson in London among them — offer calf-skimming versions in neutral shades that evoke the all-weather coats by the heritage Scottish brand Mackintosh. Notable weather-resistant options include a sherbet-colored style from Land’s End and a Banana Republic coat that comes with a matching bucket hat.

32 Tennis Dresses to Help You Master the Country Club Aesthetic by Nicole Kliest

Whether you’re serving looks on or off the court, the best tennis dresses of the season can go from country-club chic to street style favorites in one fell swoop, forehand, or backhand. It’s a sport with a rich history of blending form and function, with players of all stripes (Zendaya included!) opting for the best tennis clothes featuring crisp whites, preppy collars, and color-blocking stripes.

Retro athletic attire has been a welcome trend for a while now, whether you’ve ever stepped foot on a court or not, primarily courtesy of Tory Burch and Staud Sport for their vintage-inspired designs. For heritage sports brands like Nike, Fila, and Wilson, the tennis dress is a staple, but emerging brands such as Recreational Habits and Sporty & Rich have taken the tennis dress in a trendier direction with more street style appeal. Outdoor Voices, Alo Yoga, and Lululemon’s technically-advanced styles appeal to players looking to improve their performances, while also providing a certain chicness that’s spot-on for days spent on at the tennis club or elsewhere. Pair any of these options with a sporty white sneaker or, perhaps, a famed tennis bracelet. Read on to discover 32 of the season’s best tennis dresses, below.

Retro Styles

Chevron stripes, pleated skirts, and drop waists are iconic tennis attire features of decades past and present thanks to the likes of Tory Burch and Sporty & Rich. Classic sportswear brands are also bringing retro tennis dresses to the forefront. Consider Kule’s tennis dress in a classic blue hue featuring white piping or shop something from newly launched brand, Serves by LA—we love the stylish black-and-white contrast trim dress that will have you looking like an ace all match long.

The Best Striped Tees, According to People Whose Taste We Trust by Bella Druckman

As the daughter of a French woman, I’m no stranger to a stripe. I’ve been wearing striped tees and turtlenecks since long before I had autonomy over my wardrobe — but now I wear the pattern by choice and with pride. And, of course, I’m not alone: Stripes are beloved by just about the whole Strategist team (without fail, any team meeting will include at least a couple of people in striped shirts), and lately I’ve noticed them popping up on everyone from Olivia Rodrigo and Timothée Chalamet to Doechii on the red carpet at the Grammys.

To help you find the best striped T-shirts to add to your wardrobe, I interviewed a range of fashion-minded people — including stylists, Substack writers, content creators, and my colleagues — about their favorite striped tees, both long- and short-sleeved. Our conversations turned up heritage Bretons from French brands; preppy, structured T-shirts that you can wear to the office; and relaxed tees that would look right at home on a sailboat (or at your next summer park picnic) — all of which you’ll find here with options for women and men at a range of price points.

Best striped tees for women

Kule The Malibu tee

Kule The Malibu $108

Strategist senior editor Hilary Reid calls this one of her “all-time favorite summer T-shirts.” She owns two of them and reports that after lots of wearing (and washing) they look just about as good as new. “The fabric is truly tissue-light, which might make it seem like it wouldn’t hold up well after multiple washes and years of wear, but they’ve held up amazingly well over the five-ish years I’ve had them,” she says. Since the tee has one grouping of stripes rather than stripes throughout, Reid finds it feels slightly less casual than your average T-shirt, making it more of “a look” that works well on its own with jeans or shorts. Just note: A representative from Kule told me the brand is retiring the style, so now’s your last chance to add it to your closet.

Reid is also a fan of Kule’s The Modern, which she first tried in 2019 when we investigated the enduring appeal of the stripe and a number of new (at the time) stripes-specific brands. Kule’s Modern tee was the “best of the batch,” according to Reid, and while many of those start-ups have since closed up shop, you can still find Kule’s Modern tee in a large spectrum of colors. It’s this range and the tee’s high-quality, 100 percent cotton fabric (that’s substantial-feeling and not at all see-through) that makes the Modern a piece that stylist Conni Jespersen recommends to her clients again and again. After testing the long-sleeved version of the tee for the past four months myself, I can confidently second her recommendation: Whether being used as a bottom layer on cold winter days or as a colorful accessory to my favorite pair of jeans, the shirt feels simultaneously lightweight, breathable, and made to last.

Kule The Turtleneck tee

Kule The Turtleneck $118

Kule’s striped turtleneck is made of the same lightweight cotton as the Modern tee above, so it’s easy to layer and wear on its own, just like your favorite T-shirt. “The material is smooth and soft and hasn’t pilled through multiple wears and washings,” Strategist senior editor Winnie Yang told me. And since the most important part of a turtleneck is, well, its neck, this one could be described as the Goldilocks of collars: “The collar is neither too constricting nor too floppy, neither uncomfortably high (even for a short-necked person like me) nor some awkward in-between length,” Yang reports. Since she prefers a more relaxed fit, she sized up, but if you’d like it to be more form-fitting, go with your usual size.

Fashion Finds: Chloe Malle’s Under-$300 Edit

Welcome to Fashion Finds! A monthly column where Vogue editors and contributors share their favorite under-$300 buys, from tried-and-true wardrobe essentials to the trending now. While high fashion is the name of the game here at Vogue HQ, we love what feels like a steal as much as we do what’s fresh off the runway. The beauty of personal style is found in the mix, and luxury can be found across price points. So the next time someone on the stops you to ask about where your handbag or coat comes from, you can say, “No, it’s not [insert luxury label], it’s actually [insert under-$300 brand]!”

Nothing thrills me more than asking a chic colleague for credits on their look and hearing “J.Crew, Banana Republic, COS, and Zara” as an answer (instead of say, The Row!) and knowing I too can look like that for under-$300, even under-$100, if the case may be!

It’s still February but when I’m online window shopping I’m starting to think about spring. I want crisp, primary-colored separates this season, from red Keds to sailor tops. Everything I’m eyeing and shopping for the new season, under $300, ahead.
