Whether on or off the courts, a set is the best way to look like you know what you’re doing when getting dressed. It’s a full outfit, set up for you! With so many new sets for Spring — from 100% cotton, to terry, to our newest style: waffle — we have a set for pretty much every day of the week and some tricks up our sleeve as to how to style them.
Spring is very much about layering, and you need the perfect base for when it reaches peak-temperatures, so you still look cool even with your blazer and scarf now removed. KULE has been doing sets for years with the striped Modern or Tank + Short set, and Spring 2021’s best-selling terry cloth sets (back again for Spring 2022 in new colors!). This season, Nikki has designed even more options, so you can basically live in sets all Spring season, on into Summer.
A favorite this season is this navy rugby, a best-selling style for KULE paired with matching shorts, both 100% cotton. The shorts have pockets to hold anything from tennis balls to Tootsie Rolls, and the rugby is easy to wear tucked in or out, layered with a blazer or trench or windbreaker day-to-night.
On the courts or at cocktails, a set is always a good idea.
Additionally, these sets are designed to mix and match so, you can wear the aforementioned navy shorts with a navy tee or tank instead of the Rugby, and you can pair the terry shorts (which come in navy or cream) with a terry polo or bra top or Franny sweatshirt. Or layer them all together!. It’s basically a Sets buffet.
Styling these sets is the most fun. Here, I (hi! It’s Elizabeth) wore my Rosewell waffle half-zip and Megan shorts set, with an oversized Hutton button down layered under for an extra bit of warmth on an early Spring day. I took note of how Nikki styled the set (above), and added a pair of Mary Jane shoes for a bit of femininity.
You could, of course, wear the set solo instead, and add layers on top! I love a blazer layered over, as seen below, worn with sneakers for a casual touch.
The collection’s overarching theme of Tennis really translates in these sets. Tennis clothing is comfortable and wearable, but put together, and that’s exactly what a set does for Spring dressing.
